Wellington Startup Weekend has finally arrived and it’s looking bigger and better than ever before. We knew this was going to be a good event when we arrived at Bizdojo at 2pm and already found people practicing for their pitches, but by 5pm the trickle of guests had become a torrent and we soon had almost 100 eager entrepreneurs enjoying drinks courtesy of iwantmyname.

Event facilitator Dave Moskovitz drilled us on Startup Weekend rules and provided additional information including judging criteria, the fantastic prize line-up and how to plan using Lean Canvas. Owen from last year’s Wellington Startup Weekend winning team uSnapUs took to the floor to encourage participants to make the most of their Startup Weekend experience then we tanked up on delicious Burger Fuel.

There was a record 45 pitches and after an hour or so of hustling and negotiation we ended up with around 14 teams (give or take). Here’s the current list of team names or (in some cases) working titles for their product.
